Professor Engin NURLU led the project. She has been a professor at Ege University in the Department of Landscape Architecture since 2002. Her research interests include landscape protection, management, and planning, as well as historical landscapes. As the Principal Investigator (PI), Professor NURLU is overseeing the project and contributing to all work packages (WPs).

She led the creation of the database in WP 1 and the development of spatial strategies and solutions in WP 7. She also supports researchers in LULC classification in WP 2, the development of future LULC scenarios in WP 3, the mapping of ecosystem services in WP 4, change and transition analyses in WP 5, and correlation analysis in WP 6.
